ABSTRACT

The uses of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) include: as a solvent in paints, varnish, paint removers, cleaning agents, adhesives, rubber cements, pesticides (i.e., pyrethrins), and gums and nitrocellulose; in the manufacture of methyl amyl alcohol; and as a denaturant for ethyl alcohol. In addition, methyl isobutyl ketone is a permitted flavoring agent and is used in food contact materials.
