ABSTRACT

Nitric acid consists of a solution of nitrogen dioxide in water. The uses of nitric acid include: in the production of fertilizers; in the manufacturing of gun powder and explosives; etching; metal cleaning; electroplating; photoengraving; in the manufacturing of rocket fuel, pesticides, dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals, cellulose nitrate, inorganic and organic nitrates; and as a cauterizing agent for warts in veterinary medicine.
