ABSTRACT

The uses of tin include: the making of containers; as a reducing agent in chemical processes; in the production of other compounds such as stannous chloride, stannic oxide and organotin compounds; coating for copper wire; and as a soldering material. Inorganic tin compounds are used in the glass industry; as a base for the formation of colors; as catalysts; and in perfumes and soaps. Organotin compounds are used in the production of plastics; as a stabilizer for polyurethane foams and silicone; and as fungicides, bactericides, antihelminthics, and rodent repellents.
