ABSTRACT
The uses of 1,1-dichloroethane include: in the manufacturing of vinyl chloride; as a solvent for plastics, oils and fats; as both a cleaning agent and a degreaser; in fabric spreading, varnish and finish removers, in organic synthesis; ore flotation; and a component of fire extinguishers, fumigants, and insecticide sprays. 1,1-Dichloroethane was used in the past as an anesthetic; however, this usage has been discontinued.
