ABSTRACT
Since heating and cooling of plastics are time-consuming processes and require a considerable expense in energy, thermoforming processes have been attempted at lower and lower temperatures. As is known, similar parts when stamped out of sheet metal require only a fraction of a second to be shaped. The lower the temperature, the stiffer plastics become and, concomitantly, the force which must be applied increases rapidly.
