ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a map of Corvus and Crater. This map covers a rather barren region of the sky. Most of it is occupied by the central part of Hydra. Alphard, the only bright star in Hydra, lies to the extreme right of the map. Corvus contains no bright stars, but its leaders make up a quadrilateral which is very easy to identify, particularly in view of the fact that the surrounding areas are so barren. The main stars are Gamma; Beta; Delta and Epsilon; the orange hue of Epsilon is detectable. Delta makes up a wide pair with Eta. All the four leaders of Corvus have been suspected of variability, but with no firm evidence. Inside the quadrilateral, Zeta makes up a very wide pair with a fainter star.
