ABSTRACT

Auditors can use many tools and measuring instruments to help them perform audits and surveys. Several tools are necessary, while others are optional investments that may be desired to shorten the time and reduce the expense of conducting an audit. Selecting the right tools and metering equipment is important because such equipment leads to increased accuracy, shortened audit times, and lower audit cost. Safety equipment should be a primary consideration of the audit team. The objective is to protect the auditors while on the client's property, so safety regulations of the client company must be followed. For data collection, a well-prepared set of preprinted audit forms will eliminate the need to return to the facility later to get information that was overlooked. Photos and videos are both useful in complex facilities for reminding the audit team of what they saw during the site visit and for recreating some peculiar situations.
