ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the fundamental concepts, definitions, and rules of combination (algebra) of tensors at one point of a manifold (the particular structure of which is not important here), such as covariance and contravariance, as well as the metric tensor and its uses. The understanding of this fundamental chapter necessitates a moderate familiarity with Chapter 1; frequent reference to the latter would be quite beneficial.*
