ABSTRACT
When it is desired to use sampling-inspection control of a continuous flow of discrete units, parts, items or assemblies, the situation is different from that in which product appears in separate lots. One approach is to use a control chart set-up on such product, with a view to finding causes of sub-standard material and improving the production processes. This chapter discusses sampling inspection of continuous production of products. It describes the chain sampling plan which gives greater probability of acceptance of lots, yet giving about the same protection against accepting lots at relatively poor probability. The chapter provides information on the application of cusum chart which has close relations to acceptance sampling for attributes or variables, and to sequential analysis.
