ABSTRACT
This chapter explains control chart constants to give some formulas and some interrelations between them. There are two methods by which control chart constants may be found for a given population. The first method is to proceed empirically through a large collection of random samples. The second method is to derive the constants by theoretical considerations. The chapter shows that for population distributions departing considerably from the normal curve, the control chart constants are not greatly affected for small sample sizes.
