ABSTRACT
The greenhouse is used for growing vegetables and for providing solar heat to the house. The greenhouse is 8 × 16 ft with a double pane transparent roof and two double pane windows on the south wall. The window dimensions are 6’8” x 2’. The construction is a rock wall two ft above ground level with 2 x 6” framing for the rest of the structure. Fiberglass insulation is used in the walls. The exterior of the wall is 3/4” cedar and the interior is 3/4” pine. Approximately 50 one-gallon plastic containers of water are stored in the greenhouse to provide thermal storage. If the temperature of the greenhouse is greater than 120°F, the fan in the greenhouse comes on and ventilates the greenhouse. There are two louvered windows on the greenhouse wall opposite the fan and a single louvered window at the fan. These windows automatically open when the greenhouse fan comes on.
