ABSTRACT

Elucidation of the layer structure of a laminate film was attempted. Laminate film is used in microwavable packaging for storing food in the freezer so the laminate must be durable at low and high temperatures. Video tape is a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) film on whose surface a magnetic material such as γ-ferrite is pasted with an adhesive such as Polyurethane. This chapter deals with the dichroic measurements of drawn polymer films. Polymer products usually have homogeneous surfaces, regardless of whether the surfaces are manufactured smooth or intentionally rough. Since the photochemical oxidation of poly(ethylene) gradually proceeds into the polymer sheet as explained in the preceding section, it is interesting to investigate the position of the reaction frontier. A polymer box used for packaging is printed with the name of its product and manufacturer and other information.
