ABSTRACT

Deterministic decisions involve the choice of actions where that the parameters of the analysis are fixed. Stochastic decisions involve the choice of actions where there is a probabilistic environment. Simple deterministic decisions are ones in which there are only a few parameters and/or a few available alternative actions to be evaluated. The parameters of the analysis are assumed to be fixed. Complex deterministic decisions are ones in which there are a large number of parameters and/or alternative actions to be evaluated. The parameters of the analysis are assumed to be fixed. Simple stochastic decisions are ones in which there are only a few parameters and/or a few available alternative actions to be evaluated. It is assumed there is uncertainty in a small number of the parameters of the analysis. Complex stochastic decisions are ones in which there are a large number of parameters and/or alternative actions to be evaluated. There may be uncertainty in numerous parameters of the analysis.
