ABSTRACT
One of the most important aspects in management of poisoning or of a toxic exposure is knowing what to do and in what order to do it! This chapter explains the fundamental principles of managing acute poisonings. These include specific methods to reduce absorption of the toxic agent or to increase its elimination from the body. The chapter also discusses more specific antidotes that can be used to counteract the effects of selective toxic agents.
