ABSTRACT

The ability of poultry to adapt to most areas of the world, their low economic value per unit, the rapid growth rate of poultry and their rapid generation time, all make poultry an ideal starting point for a beginning animal agriculture and a rich source of animal nutrients for food. Traditionally, poultry firms have focused on regional markets. Now they are developing nationwide marketing organizations. R. E. Hodgson reported that "overshadowing all other developments in the production of poultry meat has been the evolution of the fast growing broiler bird through breeding experiments conducted by poultry scientists of the Department of Agriculture, state agricultural experiment stations, and private research institutions." Chicken eggs are the main source of eggs in the U. S. Duck eggs are important in some countries. Since 1930, conditions and research developments in the fields of management, disease control, genetics, technology, and marketing have made the poultry industry the most efficient meat producer in the world.
