ABSTRACT

We have thus considered a range of collective phenomena in plasma physics, non-linear physics, physical electronics and radiophysics. This range appears to be fairly broad and at the same time sufficiently exhaustive. The material selected for this book belongs to the fundamentals of physics of beams in plasmas and as such, cannot become obsolete. For this reason, the unending flow of new data on topics discussed in this book (numerous papers published in journals and presented at conferences) need not frighten the interested reader: this entire ‘avalanche’ conveniently finds proper places ‘on the shelves’ and is readily understood at the current level of knowledge. I have gained certain experience in this matter, trying constantly to add fresh material to the text, up to the moment of sending the manuscript to the publisher. I hope therefore that the book displays the bulk of the essential information that can be found in the current journals by the moment of publication.
