ABSTRACT
Gas transport in the soil pores can take place as a result of diffusion or as a result of convective flow. The driving force for diffusion is a concentration gradient, for convection the pressure gradient. Under natural conditions, transport of gases in soil is almost completely determined by diffusion which at a macro-scale is a slow process when compared to convection.
