ABSTRACT
The manipulation of light beams is performed by a variety of optical components. Some change the direction of the beam; others introduce power to the beam. The functioning of these elements is based on optical phenomena such as reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction, etc. Detailed treatment of these can be found in any textbook on optics, but we briefly describe them again here.
