ABSTRACT

Post-incident planning is essential in order to protect not only human assets and property assets but also company's efficacy assets. Post planning is "making the best of a bad situation." After a workplace violence incident, the company is going to incur losses. Preplanning and preparation will permit these individuals to function in this very difficult situation to preserve and minimize the damages. As is often utilized in emergency and disaster preparedness programs, assembly of the equipment and documents that may be needed following a workplace violence incident or other emergency situation is essential. A vitally important area that should be addressed in the Workplace Violence Prevention and Response Program is the control of the media. In addition to the enforcement personnel and the media, various governmental agencies will be required to investigate the workplace violence scene. Given the litigious society, the Workplace Violence Prevention and Response Plan may need to include preparation for subsequent litigation by involved parties.
