ABSTRACT

Diagnosis. Adults generally with more than 18 flagellomeres; hypopharyngeal filaments separate, never fused on midline (Fig. 5); labial palpus with minute basal segment in addition to rounded distal segment (Fig. 6): tarsi generally three-segmented. Wings almost always present, though reduced to minute buttons in some forms; forewlng (Fig. 407) lacking a sclerotlzed pterostlgma. veins Cu2 and IA usually ending separately on wing margin (exception: Family Psyllipsocidae). Ovipositor usually reduced to two valvulae (v2 and v3) or a single valvula (v3) on each side. Paraproct usually with a stout spine on free margin near middle (Fig. 406).
