ABSTRACT

Hygiene is the science of maintaining and improving health and preventing and eliminating diseases. It can be separated into two parts: human hygiene and animal hygiene. Both fields are important for the dairy industry. Key aspects are labor, construction, operational, nutritional, food, school and social hygiene. Occupational safety covers all activities and means that contribute to protecting the life and health of the working population, maintaining their working capabilities and designing work in an ergonomie way. Occupational safety therefore includes protection against professional sicknesses and fire; safety and functionality of workplace, machines and installations; and first aid. Protection of the workforce is governed by federal regulations as well as regulations of insurance institutions and professional associations, which are important. Before work is started for the first time or at a new workstation, there must be instruction on prevailing safety rules.
