ABSTRACT

Bakelite has been the tradename for all plastics manufactured by Union Carbide and its former, and now divested, international subsidiaries, but it was often mistakenly characterized as referring only to the grades of phenolics produced by that organization. Celanex is available in a variety of grades including reinforcements with mineral, glass, or both and is highly adaptable to automotive, electrical, and houseware applications. A copolymer, acetal-based engineering resin which displays excellent thread-rolling and thread-forming characteristics, Celcon is a material recommended for use with both special-design thread-rolling screws and push-in thread-forming fasteners for plastics. Push-in thread-forming fasteners for plastics should work well in Cycolac. Delrin is an excellent material for either special-design thread-rolling screws or push-in thread-forming fasteners for plastic. Durez is the tradename of a family of thermoset phenolics, alkyds, and diallyl phthalates produced by Occidental Chemical Corporation.
