ABSTRACT

It is well known, that apart from interferences caused by radiation sources (e.g., jamming) and receiver self-noises, wanted signal detection may be hindered by clutter. Radar clutter is defined as unwanted echoes. Natural clutter is typically from the ground and/or sea surfaces, ground objects which are not to be detected, rain and other precipitations, aurora etc. The most important deliberate clutter is caused by chaff [15,47,48,192]. In this chapter we pay main attention to chaff.
