ABSTRACT
Considerate selection, care, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and supplies are significant factors of the laboratory management and important parts of the precise and accurate analytical performance. Constant care and routine maintenance is the secret for the proper working condition of the laboratory instruments. This chapter contains the recommended maintenance activities and frequencies for the laboratory instruments. Volumetric glassware should be used for accurate volume measurement. This glassware should meet the federal specifications as Class "A". Glassware is permanently marked as "A" and also with the temperature at which calibration was made. Laboratory glassware must be kept spotlessly clean. Laboratory glassware cleaning procedures depend on the parameters determined. Chemicals are manufactured in varying degrees of purity. One of the most important aspects of analysis is the quality of reagent grade water to be used for preparation of standard solutions, reagents, dilutions, and blank analysis.
