ABSTRACT
Scientists have the opportunity to make significant contributions to help resolve environmental conflicts. They can only help, because there are many non-scientific elements in most conflicts which have to be resolved through the normal political mechanisms. There are often data elements in environmental conflicts, and the scientist can help by ensuring alt participants understand what we know about a particular system and the uncertainties and risks of various courses of action.
