ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of each of the major development streams within the overall planning chart. Comprehensive planning chart has been used successfully on hundreds of such projects around the world. The chapter describes a set of complex issues, all of which must be addressed to successfully implement a netcentric application. Each box in the planning chart represents a work segment to be done to address one or more netcentric implementation issues. As organizations move to client/server computing, and then to the more complex dimension of netcentric computing, they do not always carefully think through issues associated with successful implementation. The design operations architecture and implement operations architecture work segments address the steps needed to put the systems management approach in place. Five major activities are conducted in the design applications and implement applications work segments: user requirements; requirements analysis; applications design; technical design; and development planning.
