ABSTRACT

Models are especially used in system design and analysis. This chapter introduces the modeling language and uses modeling technique in conjunction with the set theoretic notation. It is often helpful in generating functional diagrams to use the state modeling described above to ensure that all inputs and outputs are properly represented and that the connections are made; then translate the diagrams into an available modeling language. Although state representation is a useful modeling tool, particularly for initial system design, it is not the only tool for modeling. In industry, system designers will generally use whatever tools are available. The design process used to create a state representation will be valid, even if the modeling tool is different. It is often helpful in generating functional diagrams to use the state modeling described above to ensure that all inputs and outputs are properly represented and that the connections are made; then translated the diagrams into an available modeling language.
