ABSTRACT

Wherever large amounts of data need to be handled in a logical and easily accessible manner, matrices prove useful. This chapter deals with algebraic studies by describing a widely used algebraic concept known as a matrix. It helps the reader to use matrix notation and perform the basic operations of matrix algebra. The chapter assists in applying the rules of matrix algebra correctly and using the zero matrices O and the identity matrices I as well as in writing equations in matrix form and solve matrix equations. At the end of this chapter we shall apply matrix methods to some practical problems in electrical theory.
