ABSTRACT

When someone notices frequent minor stoppages at a particular automated machine or automated line, he or she should submit a proposal describing the problem and the need for improvement. Then the problem can officially be taken up as an improvement theme for the company division or for the entire factory. Operators and other workers on the factory floor are seldom able to single-handedly tackle the kind of minor stoppage improvement problems required for today’s sophisticated automated equipment, so improvement themes should be addressed at the departmental or factory level.
