ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on Phase 5 of the Information Systems Security Engineering (ISSE) model: Implementing System Security. This is equivalent to the Systems Engineering activity, Implement System. This chapter explains the role of system engineering during system implementation. It focuses on the ISSE model and role of the Information Systems Security Engineering Professional during the implementation phase. The chapter discusses the role of risk management during the implementation and evaluation phase. The systems engineering phase for implementation is also called the construction, integration, and validation phase. Following the establishment of the functional baseline, the system is ready for construction and production. Construction is the building of the system using the previously defined components and subsystems. An important consideration during the construction and production stage is whether the system is designed to be only one system or will it need to be replicated in various locations.
