ABSTRACT
Mathematics, as we have observed, has come to be seen as the epitome of an ideal information state from which ambiguity, ignorance, and prejudice have been banished. One reason for this is the high respect accorded “mathematical proof,” which is founded on the general acceptance of the following views.
