What’s the Cost of Smoking?

For many years an artist friend of mine declined to act on the health warnings of his doctor about the consequences of smoking. But recently the doctor inquired as to whether he had any idea about how much it was costing him, and proceeded to note a few figures. My friend gave up smoking immediately.
