ABSTRACT
The gas-turbine engine can be used to produce large quantities of electric power and thus to compete with the steam turbine power plant. Gas turbines can also be used to produce small amounts of power, as in auxiliary power units. They can be used to power ships as well as ground vehicles like tanks, trains, cars, buses, and trucks, and, of course, gas turbines are widely used to power aircraft.
