ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters we discussed the qualitative techniques for site selection. A single best site was selected from among several possible locations. These qualitative techniques, however, are largely influenced by subjective and personal opinions and, therefore, may not always result in an optimum site selection relative to a single dominating quantifiable objective. In this and the following chapters we will study different quantitative methods. Those methods select the best location based on optimization of a mathematically formed objective that describes quantifiable costs of the problem.
