ABSTRACT

The complete concurrent engineering development methodology was described in Chapters 3-6. To make concurrent engineering work most effectively for your company, you may want to customize certain aspects of the methodology. In this chapter, a method for assessing the risk of the design of sheet metal and plastic parts is described along with how it fits into the CE methodology. This chapter will show how to incorporate industryspecific tools into the methodology. Chapter 8 presents additional tools within the methodology that allow the incorporation of the philosophy of industrial ecology into the development process through the use of design for environment tools. These two chapters to illustrate the flexibility of the methodology and how to customize the basic framework to fit your company’s specific needs.
