ABSTRACT

But in its most non-specific, widest interpretation, “demand” refers to everything the consumer wants or at least wants to the extent he or she is willing to pay for it. In that context and within the venue of the T&D planner, “demand” then refers to what the consumers really want with respect to energy. Most consumers are more interested in the end-use performance of lights, heating, and air conditioning, than the energy source itself. They want to obtain energy from electricity, and natural gas, fuel oil, or propanewhatever suits their needs best and at least cost. Many will also look at other sources such as solar and wind generators to provide end-uses.
