ABSTRACT
In addition to moment tests and regression tests, many other tests have been developed specifically for the purpose of detecting non-normal samples. Some, such as likelihood ratio tests and most powerful location and scale invariant tests, are derived from the desire to test for a specific alternative to normality; often, though, these tests are competitive with other tests for a larger set of alternatives. Other tests have as their alternatives a more general set of distributions, or are omnibus tests.
