ABSTRACT

Oilseed brassicas are now established as a major source of vegetable oils for a variety of uses (1-3). This group is the third most important vegetable oil source after soybean and palm. This popularity can be attributed to the relatively wide adaptability of these species, which can be grown from subtropical to cool temperate regions. The crop is grown mainly for the oil, which is 40-45% in seed, but the meal is also valuable as a feed source, having about 40% protein on a dry weight basis.
