ABSTRACT
In this chapter specific aspects of reactor design for thermal processes are treated. The treatment is based on the general theory of chemical reactor design .
5.1 DESIGN OF THE REACTION SECTION OF TUBULAR FURNACES
In the following, the design of tubular furnaces for thermal processes is limited to the final part of the coil where the chemical transformations take place, without refer ences to the design of the anterior part where only physical phenomena of heating and vaporizing occur. Also, general principles for the design of the furnace are assumed to be known.
