ABSTRACT

The advent of new finite scheduling and supply chain optimization systems in recent years has served to underwrite one of the original problems identified in Chapter 1 of this book. It is very clear that before designing a system that is capable of synchronizing the factory or managing a supply chain, systems designers must understand the environment that these systems have been created to manage. In either of these environments synchronization between dependent resources is of monumental importance. A lack of synchronization will result in a less than desirable outcome.
