ABSTRACT
A high-velocity bullet or metal fragment can produce a great deal of tissue damage, especially if it strikes bone and all of the bullet’s energy is dissipated in the target. Moreover, splinters of bone may become secondary missiles and injure other structures. Such widespread damage may not be suspected on initial inspection because there may be only small entrance and exit wounds.
