ABSTRACT

A large number of interesting photographic lenses have been designed since the end of the 19th century. We will describe here only a few of them, but the reader may consult the interesting books by Kingslake (1946, 1963, 1989). Additional information may also be found in the articles by Betensky (1980) and Cook (1965). Aklin (1948) made some considerations about the glass selection for photographic lenses in general.
