ABSTRACT

In the recent past, there has been an amazing growth of applications of wavelet methods [1-7, 12, 13, 15, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27, 29] in such diverse fields as image and signal processing, meterology, computer vision, seismology, turbulence, biomedical engineering, stock market predictions, time series analysis, pattern recognition, water marking technology and numerical solutions of partial differential equations. In this chapter, we present an introduction of applications of wavelets to the solution of partial differential equations (PDEs) and signal processing.
