ABSTRACT

In general, there are two kinds of loads in multi-converter power electronic systems. One group is conventional constant voltage loads that require fixed voltage for their operation. The other group is constant power loads sinking constant power from their input buses [1]. Power electronic converters, when tightly regulated, behave as constant power loads [1]–[8]. An example is an electric motor drive, which tightly regulates the speed when the rotating load has one-to-one torque-speed characteristic. Another example is a voltage regulator, which tightly regulates the voltage for an electric load that has one-to-one voltage-current characteristic.
