ABSTRACT
Two half-wave, three-pulse controlled rectifiers of the type shown in Fig. 7.1 can be combined in the formation of Fig. 7.1a. If the switches in the top half of the bridge (Th1Th3Th5) are gated and fired in antiphase with the switches in the bottom half (Th4Th6Th2) and the neutral wire N is omitted, the two half-wave bridge effects are added. The resultant load voltage eL (ωt) is then the sum of the two individual half bridges. The average load voltage Eav is then twice the average value of either of the two half-wave bridges acting individually.
