A general representation of a rectifier or converter, with single-phase supply, is shown in Fig. 2.1. The contents of the rectifier “box” can take several different forms. For the purpose of analysis it is most helpful to consider first the simplest form of half-wave connection and then proceed to more complicated full-wave connections.
