ABSTRACT
Oil and gas geochemical exploration technique was first introduced into China from the former Soviet Union in the early 1950s just after the liberation of China. Under the advocacy and leadership of Academician Weng Wenhao and Academician Guan Shicong, the exploration technicians, through applying fluorescence spectrum method and hydrogeochemical method, set a precedent of providing geochemical services to oil and gas exploration in China. 50 years of practical application and research has made this technique an important oil and gas exploration tool in China.
