ABSTRACT
The standard technique of identifying the existence of a tsunami event in real time is through its record on a tide gauge. However, since there could be an elapsed time interval of several minutes to an hour, or sometimes even longer, for the tsunami waves to arrive at a tide gauge, the available warning time for evacuation purposes, if needed, is somewhat reduced. One of such technologies is the possible detection of the earthquake and tsunami signals in the ionosphere.
