ABSTRACT
Water levels may be considered the basis for any river study. Most kinds of measurements – such as discharges – have to be related to river stages. However, in reality the discharge of a river is a better basic information than the water level, and if it could be possible to measure this discharge daily or even several times a day at many places, this would be preferable.
