ABSTRACT
This chapter will look at some of the basic differences among the operating systems. These differences lead to the need for migration and coexistence solutions among the operating system environments. In particular, the differences among the operating systems lead to the need for porting applications from one environment to another. Here the focus will be on Windows NT and UNIX.
